Experienced Dancers - Take a class with Karla Nweje at CulturFest

A group of 12 dancers will have the opportunity to participate in a dance class for 1.75 hours on Saturday, September 26 from 8:30-10:00 a.m. Dancers will receive instruction from the artist and develop a routine they will to present to the larger audience later in the day with their instructor at CulturFest. This instruction will include African and modern dance forms. There is no cost to participate. This class is intended for dancers ages 15 and up. Deadline for registration through Owatonna Community Education is September 18th. Registration will be accepted soon at:

Karla Nweje is a Nweje is an experienced dancer, choreographer, and educator who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in dance performance and composition at Brooklyn College, NY. She performed professionally with over 12 dance companies from 2006-2014. Among her accomplishments is an award from the Ordway Center for Performing Arts in 2013 for Excellence in Educational Service. She has presented at dozens of educational events in combination with schools and non-profit agencies since moving to Minnesota. Ms. Nweje and her professional dance group, Samimejon Movement, will perform at CulturFest later in the day. This project is supported through SELCO and was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
