On Wednesday, the Northampton girls’ tennis team escaped with an impressive 3-2 win against Minnechaug.

This feat was made possible in part due to Emmi Warren’s win in the contest’s deciding match, which lasted almost two hours.
Warren defeated Chloe Robins (7-6, [10-8], 7-5) after the lengthy pivotal match, the second of two singles wins for the Blue Devils. Ruth Pollin-Gay earned the other one, beating Ava Croteau in two sets (6-3, 6-2).
Wenxie Tao picked up the lone singles win for Minnechaug, defeating Bess King Pollet in a pair of sets (7-5, 6-1).
In the first match of doubles play, Casey Barber and Giselle Ohm led Northampton past Cate McMahon and Alivia Grono in three sets (6-3, 2-6, 7-5).
However, Ainsley Holden and Caitlyn Hoare notched the victory for the Falcons in the second doubles matchup, topping Ana Lucia-Ohm and Sofia Cosme in two sets (6-2, 7-5).
With the win, Northampton moved to 3-4 on the season. They will return on Thursday when they host Amherst at 4:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Minnechaug dropped to 2-4 after Wednesday’s loss, with a chance to get back in the win column on Thursday at 4 p.m. on the road against Ludlow.
